William and Caroline lived in Kidder Township, Holmquist, and Webster, South Dakota.

William was born Nov. 24, 1846 in Pampitz, Germany, and died February 2, 1925 at age 80.  His father was born in Germany as well as his mother.

Caroline J. was born in 1843 in Germany and died March 24, 1922.  Her father and mother were born in Germany.

They were married on Feb. 3 but I am not sure what year.  William and Caroline are buried in Webster Cemetery, South Dakota

William Sr., Caroline, and sons August, William Jr., and Earnest or Ernst left from Bremen, Germany and arrived in New York on June 29, 1878 aboard the ship Main (Best guess is that their oldest son, John came two years later).  With them traveled a Caroline Gast, possibly related to William.

Herman Carl Gast and Laura Huber

Married Dec. 20, 1905 in Webster, SD.

From Newspaper Article but no indication which paper

Miss Laura Huber, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Huber Sr. of Webster SD became the bride of Herman C. Gast, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gast Sr. of  Holmquist SD. on Dec. 20th 1905.  They were married in Webster with a quiet ceremony, officiated by Rev. Piethman.  The bride wore for her marriage a navy blue changeable taffeta gown, leg of mutton sleeves and bodice elaborately hand tucked, wit a full floor length skirt.  Her sister, Miss Frances Huber was bridesmaid, wearing a gown identical in off white moiré taffeta.

The bridegroom was attired in a black suit and had as his best man, Otto Bauman, of Webster.

After the ceremony, the bride and groom departed on their honeymoon via horse and carriage to Holmquist where they boarded the train to Bristol, SD.

Upon their return, Mr. and Mrs. Gast were honored with a reception at the home of the bridegroom’s parents.  The wedding dinner and dance was enjoyed by the 150 guests in attendance.

The bride is a well-known young lady in this vicinity, having taught school here for several years.  The groom is also a well-known young man, having farmed the old homestead at Holmquist, where the bride and groom will make their home.

With this young couple go the well wishes of the entire community.

Herman was born May 20, 1882 and died June 5, 1963.  Herman and Laura are buried in Colman, South Dakota at the Catholic Cemetery.  Herman died of heart attack complications at Volga Hospital.
