J. ROCK, M. D.,
a well-known physician and surgeon of Aberdeen, South Dakota, was born on a
farm near North English, Iowa. He was reared on the farm and attended first the
country schools, then graduated from the North English high school. He next
graduated from the college at Valparaiso, Indiana, taking the course in
teaching, business and science. He came to South Dakota and took charge of the
high school at Big Stone City for two years. Following this he was principal of
the Webster high school for four years. He was graduated from the medical
department of the University of Illinois, in 1900, and began the practice of
his profession in Aberdeen the same year. He is a member of the Aberdeen
District Medical Society, the South Dakota Medical Society and the American
Medical Society.
